CVS3 - Engineering Intern - Unified Interface BMS system for a new building on campus

About the Internship Project Description A building management system (BMS), otherwise known as a building automation system (BAS), is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems. A BMS consists of software and hardware; the software program, usually configured in a hierarchical manner, can be proprietary, using such protocols as C-Bus, Profibus, and so on. Vendors are also producing BMSs that integrate using Internet protocols and open standards such as DeviceNet, SOAP, XML, BACnet, LonWorks and Modbus. Building Management Systems (BMS) are the new trend in management of building utilities in a smart and energy efficient way. A new BMS will be installed for a new on-campus building for Sound, Vibration and Smart Structures. The participants in this project will participate in the implementation of this system...

CVS3 - Engineering Intern - Opportunities in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

About the Internship Project Description Fluid flow is an essential mechanism of energy conversion and carries an essential function in energy systems. For example, oil or gas need to flow from their reservoirs to storage or treatment facilities in order to be useful for further use. And many engineering processes involve the flow of fluids, such as water/steam in Rankine cycles, or the heat transfer fluid that absorbs solar heat in CSP plants. But for flow to happen, energy is required in the form of pressure that induces fluid motion, where the pressure is made to overcome resistances along its path. Such resistances can be due to: Friction inside the conduits that carry the flow; or Change in flow cross-section due to obstructions. Taking a biomedical analogy, a man's heart has to pump enough pressure to sustain blood motion in every vein and artery, overcoming resistances built up by the wall friction inside each and every blood vessel, in addition to fatty residues ...

CVS3 - 3D Scanning and Presentation in Virtual Reality

About the Internship Project Description 3D scanning techniques i.e. laser scanning and photogrammetry are used to scan archaeological artifacts and sites. Within this project, interns will participate in 3D scanning of different sites then embed the scanned models into developed Virtual Reality (VR) interactive environments. Development of demo game will be carried out and will involve Unity3D/Unreal game engines. Scope of Work Scanning using 3D laser scanner including field work training. Scanning techniques and usage. Post-Processing of scanned data and captured videos. 360 virtual tours. Optimization for VR applications. Game development and AI. Development for VR and AR devices. Benefits for the students: Possibility to work in a high-quality research environment. Participate in a real-life project and interact with a team of qualified engineers. Certificate of Participation in the project. A paid compensation will be given to the participants by the e...
